This page is designed to give further guidance about the practicalities of selecting, purchasing and then implementing a system. At at stage if you have questions, we at Vitalia Health can offer guidance on 01628-898366 or please refer to the FAQ pages. 1) Budget and Funding Many people these days as they approach older ages become asset rich through savings and ownership of property, but have failing health and loss of independence. Environmental Control systems can be very liberating, but require a reasonable budget. A SRS Lite system with reasonable initial functionality will require a budget in the region of £2,500. SRS Intellec systems will require an initial budget of at least £5,000. At Vitalia Health, we recommend the SRS Lite as the most appropriate system, especially for elderly people. We recommend that a source of funding is determined before proceeding too far in the process to avoid delays and disappointment. Please read our information page about funding. The funding usually originates from the following places Personal funding from one's own resources. In many cases, children are funding systems for elderly parents to optimize their independence, saving them from entering nursing homes. The benefits of personal funding is the speed, you can have your system immediately. Rental options are also available Health Service funding - will take a lot of pre-qualifying and will take considerable time and effort to secure. We only really recommend this rouute for the most profoundly disable people. Insurance funding - many people becoming disabled through accidents etc are using insurance monies to fund systems. 2) Questionnaire Please complete our on-line questionnaire or alternatively, print off the questionnaire and send it to us at; Vitalia Health Limited, PO Box 2492, Marlow, Buckinghamshire, SL7 3WD Once we have received your completed questionnaire, we will organise a specialist to call and discuss your requirements. Please try to give us as many details as possible. A full service from assessment of needs through to installation and ongoing adaptions and maintenance is provided. 3) The Assessment Process At Assessment, the SRS Lite or the SRS Intellec can be tried out and a specialist will be on hand to answer questions. At the end of the assessment, which usually takes 1 1/2 hours, a quotation will be prepared. A range of issues will be considered; - What functions will be required - What input device will be the most suitable - What mounting device will be suitable - Will the system be used in many locations (such as home, work or school) - Will wheelchair integration be required - What existing equipment can be controlled - What new equipment will be needed - What is the best configuration on the controller's display - What your ongoing needs are likely to be. 4) Configuration and Installation Once an order is received, a convenient time is booked for the system to be installed. This may need to happen in stages, particularly if electrical work is required first. Engineers are trained to install some third party equipment such as door operators. SRS can also source electricians if required. At installation, a file will be generated for the controller using the management software. The configuration is tried out on the installation day, and changes can be made there and then, or at a later date if required. The implementation team will ensure that users, carers and other family members receive full training on how to work your environmental control system. 5) Ongoing Support We recommend that a support agreement is taken out with SRS Technology to maintain your equipment. A helpline is available. SRS provides an ongoing service for customers, including additional assessments where situations have changed, installation of new equipment, reconfiguration of the display. Some services can be provided by telephone if an SRS RoBoX is installed.
